Creative Challenge

1 July 2019 - 31 August 2019

What are your dreams?

All children have great thoughts and ideas which find expression in different art forms.

We want to celebrate and honour the most outstanding work created by young talents across the Wellington region by displaying it on our digital platform, along with the stories about the artworks and their creators.

Uncovering young talent

We are inviting all creative kids and young teenagers aged 5 to 18 years to showcase their talents in visual art and photography, while encouraging young artists to write about their dreams or how they see their future.

What you need to do:

Ask your kids (or anyone you know and want them to take a part in the challenge) to prepare the artwork in the form of photography or other media, such as oil, pastels, crayons, pencils or mixed.

Send the work to us by 31 August 2019:

  • ONLINE Scan or take a good photo of the artwork, sign the consent form and submit using the form below (this method is preferred as will allow for faster processing of the entries).

  • BY POST Put the artwork with the completed form (download here) in an A4 envelope and post to: Excio #dreamsmatter, PO Box 875, Wellington 6140.

What we will do:

Between 1 - 10 September 2019 we will evaluate all entries on: creativity, composition, theme, technique, and the story behind the artwork.

By 30 September 2019 we will contact the finalists and arrange an interview and/or photo shoot with them and their parents to be featured on Excio, on our Blog, in the #dreamsmatter journal and NZPhotographer magazine.

The finalists will be featured in a special edition #dreamsmatter journal published on International Artists’ Day 25 October 2019 available for online orders and worldwide delivery with 10% of proceeds going to KidsCan.
